A Really Good Day in Rome

A Really Good Day in Rome

When I woke up this morning I had a sensation that this is going to be a good day. I don’t know why, but there is a happy sensation in my guts. Maybe the bus will be on time today and I will get a seat. There will be no strike, the trains will run as usual. It will not rain. If only one of these things would be true, it would indeed be a good day!
After showering and dressing I head straight for the bar. When talking to my English-speaking friends they laugh a lot when they hear me saying that I always have my breakfast in the bar!

Best youth hostels in Stockholms archipelago

click on this link:

For over 50 years, the archipelago of Stockholm has meant summer to me.
When I was a little girl, my mom and dad took me there with a really old, beautiful mahogny boat. Later I was there with row boats, sailing boats and of course motor boats of different speeds.

There are also a fantastic net of regular boat traffic from Stockholm out to these islands. Stockholms Archipelago has about 30000 islands and 10000 of them are unhabited. So it is easy to find privacy, a place to ancor if you come in your own boat. When you arrive with the scheduled boats, there are so many fantastic hostels to go to. There you really can enjoy nature, relax and let your soul catch up!

The Canary islands

Outside the north west coast of Africa is an archipelago of islands named The Canary islands. They are Seven and have their own government and custom laws. The islands belong to Spain but are very independent with separate laws and rules.

I have lived on one of these islands and visited four. My island in the sun was Fuerteventura. Read about the island here: Fuerteventura in my heart
One very popular Music Cafe is Pieros Cafe. Here you find entertainment for the whole family!

The largest island is Tenerife. Up in the north city Santa Cruz is one of the most fantastic shopping area I have ever seen. Everything you want and more. Many shops are personal and specialized on their thing. Strong Recommendation to see!

Another island is La Gomera. It is called the green island. If you compare with Fuerteventura, the difference is really big. La Gomera has preserved a special language for centuries. It is a whistle between the mountains and valleys. I have posted some videos here so you can listen: La Gomera and Silbo gomero

Travel back in time!

A History of the VikingsTravel to the time of the Vikings
Men has always had a need to communicate through paintings and carvings and texts. In Norrköping, Sweden are a lot of rock carvings for anybody to see. The most important Rock-Carving site in Norrköping is Himmelstalund, which has the largest amount - 1660 - of figure carvings of the North. I actually live very close to these rock carvings. Can almost see the place from my living room window!
These well preserved carvings are 3000 years old! That is from the Bronze age!

There is another fantastic ancient thing in Sweden - The Runestones
Runestones are "letters" carved in stone and erected. They tell a story about an event or a person. Read the site and look at the translations.
